L. Jacobs Behind The Great Curve

Behind The Great Curve by L. Jacobs

blickwinkel 24 10.04.2026 LP (inc.booklet)/Digital

On April 10, L. Jacobs will release his second album, Behind the Great Curve, on the Belgian label Blickwinkel. Featuring contributions from Milan W., Sarah Yu Zeebroek, and Joachim Badenhorst, the follow-up to the surprising debut Enthusiasm was initially composed and recorded in Jacobs’ small attic room and later refined at Milan W.’s Van den Nest Studio, where W. also handled production and mixing.
A line or outline which gradually deviates from being straight for some or all of its length.
Behind the Great Curve explores and celebrates the beauty and universality of the abstract notion above and what we commonly refer to as the curve. Its presence, allegedly, is everywhere. It is a form that appears visually, mathematically, and symbolically — a line that suggests motion, time, expectation, and impermanence.
This album aims to listen to all of this — the poetry, the irony, and the faint background hum of modern life — with quiet curiosity. Within a gently meandering, synthesized landscape, a collection of dreamlike compositions unfolds: delicate melodies, sparse percussion, warm buzzing synths, and fragments of field recordings coexist in carefully measured imperfection. Colorful yet minimal in aesthetic, the album does not seek to explain the curve, but to follow it.

Elisabeth Klinck & Nils Vermeulen Pioen

Pioen by Elisabeth Klinck & Nils Vermeulen

blickwinkel 23 27.02.2026 LP (inc.booklet)/Digital

Pioen is the second album by Elisabeth Klinck & Nils Vermeulen, released on February 27th via blickwinkel on vinyl and digital formats.
The album was recorded in a small chapel of a monastery in the city center of Ghent. A chapel, by nature, is a place of contemplation and meditation, which inevitably influenced the music. Movements slow down, attention is sharpened and the overwhelming silence of the space becomes part of the music. Sound and silence are meticulously woven into each other. Even when the music grows at times dense and heavy, there is an ever-present sense of closeness and intimacy. This is reinforced by the use of the voice, which naturally appears throughout the album, not as a separate layer but as an extension of the instruments. The pieces - this time more curated then on their previous album Pair, Paire - arose from hours long improvisations where sound became space and space became sound.

	Ameel Brecht BEAST

WILDERNESS by Ameel Brecht

blickwinkel 22 05.12.2025 Cassette

blickwinkel announces WILDERNESS, the fifth instalment in Ameel Brecht’s cassette series exploring the theme of sleep. This closing volume delves into the world of dreaming and what it does to our minds, and for the first time in Brecht’s oeuvre features newly composed parts for (bass) clarinet.

"Sleeping and dreaming in your childhood: the first dreams you remember, the whole wildness of it;
dreams of flying, and of disappearing, the strangeness of blue twilight, worrying about the nightmares of a sibling, listening to the dreams of your parents, struggling with falling asleep, writing dreams on postcards, dreams that feel so true they linger for days - sleep is wilderness."

Vies Sylvestres by Roxane Métayer

blickwinkel 16 21.11.2025 LP (inc.booklet)/Digital

blickwinkel welcomes Brussels-based artist Roxane Métayer to the label with her new album Vies Sylvestres, out on November 21 on vinyl and digital formats. The album was conceived and developed during performances and travels in Japan in 2023, where its sounds and ideas gradually came together.Vies Sylvestres continues the direction of her previous release on Kraak, where Métayer built imagined narratives unfolding in forests or urban spaces inhabited by animal and plant characters. On this new album, however, the presence of these elements becomes more explicit and present. Field recordings are not solely used as backdrops but become compositions, complementing the instrumental works and expanding the album’s narrative into the realm of lived sound and place. The listener encounters recordings of crickets and birds but we're also witnessing a scenery at a Buddhist temple. As such, combined with violin, electronics, and voice, Métayer explores the relationship between the natural environment and human culture. Her work bridges both worlds, showing how sound can connect different spaces and contexts

	Suzan Peeters Cassotto

Cassotto by Suzan Peeters

blickwinkel 21 10.10.2025 LP (inc.booklet)/Digital

On October 10, Brussels-based accordionist Suzan Peeters releases her debut album Cassotto on the Belgian label blickwinkel. With Cassotto, she opens a door into a hidden chamber of sound. The title refers to the “cassotto” — a small resonating chamber inside the accordion that warms, softens, and deepens its tone. Listening to this record feels as if you’ve stepped into that room yourself, enveloped in a world where intimacy and grandeur collide.Although this is her first release, Peeters is already recognised as one of the most promising names in Belgium’s experimental music scene. Her distinctive live shows — from leading venues across Belgium to a packed Café Oto in London — have earned her a reputation for combining accordion, electronics and unconventional objects such as a massage board into a compelling whole where contrasts come together in an unexpected way. Cassotto captures this approach in recorded form, giving listeners the same sense of immediacy as her concerts, but framed within the intimate space suggested by the album’s title. While the cassotto chamber naturally gives the accordion a soft and velvety voice, Peeters harnesses that warmth to explore extremes — from hushed detail to bold, expansive gestures that fill the room. As such, the album moves between the acoustic and the electronic, the tender and the abrasive, the static and the dynamic, the traditional and the experimental. With Cassotto, Suzan Peeters presents a debut that places the accordion at the centre of an adventurous and contemporary sound world — one that invites to discover how far an accordion can reach when tradition and imagination intertwine.

	Ameel Brecht BEAST

BEAST by Ameel Brecht

blickwinkel 20 12.06.2025 Cassette

‘BEAST’, the 4th installment in the series of Ameel Brecht's sleep-inspired compositions is out on June 20, available on limited edition cassette and digital.

As the earlier parts of this series focused primarily on in between phases and manifestations of sleep, this penultimate volume shifts its attention to the absence of sleep.
Without sleep, never resting, never dreaming, what would we experience? A monochrome fever-quality fog, a void of unrealities.

Ghost Note by Kim Hiorthøy

blickwinkel 15 21.03.2025 LP (inc.booklet)/Digital

More than a decade after his last full album, Kim Hiorthøy returns with Ghost Note, out on March 21 via the Belgian label Blickwinkel. Though his music has quietly existed in the background—shaping contemporary dance, film, and theatre—this album brings it into focus once more. Ghost Note is an exploration of sound on the edge of presence and absence, a fictional world that is both constructed and organic.

Using mostly digital technology, Hiorthøy created a set of instruments that are real—you can hear them, they have tone, timbre, and resonance—but also not. The percussion, for instance, sounds like cheap scrap metal drums. But are they real? Do they exist? Hiorthøy plays with perception, challenging what feels real and what feels like a memory. In doing so, Ghost Note becomes an invitation to embrace uncertainty and indefinability.

“It's a kind of foggy area between theatre and daily life. Ghost notes. I wanted to try to make music that existed in this in-between space. Electronic music that is acoustic, a kind of emotional music that also hides in abstraction (or the other way around), and to try to make tracks that were sort of falling apart as I was making them.” - Kim Hiorthøy

EXODUS by Ameel Brecht

blickwinkel 19 14.02.2025 Cassette

‘EXODUS': the third installment in Ameel Brecht's tape series centered on the theme of sleep, this time focusing on the conflicting realities of sleep and awakening.

Sleep as a boundless, recurring valley. A place of wandering where you disappear among wild grasses and hungry dreams. Wake-up equals exodus: a bittersweet goodbye to half-remembered, distant worlds.
